[T]hose Disney endings where the prince and the princess end up blissfully married don’t really happen in the original stories. To make sure kids go home happy, not horrified, Disney usually has to alter the endings. Read on for the original endings to a couple of Disney classics (and some more obscure tales).
I like the last two the best. The decapitation in “The Juniper Tree” is a masterful plot element, and the rumour about Penta giving birth to a puppy is also a classic. Why did no one tell me these tales when I was growing up?
