Human ingenuity cannot be denied. AP reports:
Inmates have devised an innovative way to smuggle in cell phones into a prison farm in Brazil: carrier pigeons. Guards at the Danilio Pinheiro prison near the southeastern city of Sorocaba noticed a pigeon resting on an electric wire with a small cloth bag tied to one of its legs last week. “The guards nabbed the bird after luring it down with some food and discovered components of a small cell phone inside the bag,” police investigator Celso Soramiglio said Tuesday.
One day later, another pigeon was spotted dragging a similar bag inside the prison’s exercise yard. Inside the bag was the cell phone’s charger, Soramiglio said.
Basically, the prisoners “bred and raised” the pigeons inside the cell, smuggled them out, and then their accomplices on the outside fitted those pigeons with cellphone parts. Like good homing pigeons, they made their way back to the prison. And were caught in the act.
I love the irony that pigeons, a message bearing technology from times gone by, were used to carry the message-bearing technology of today. It’s like heating a tawa inside a microwave.
Also, remember the cop who wanted to arrest an errant python recently? Imagine if these pigeons were also arrested. Where would they be incarcerated then? Prison would be home.

Update: That was sloppy, it just struck me that this is actually the opposite of heating a tawa inside a microwave. Ok then: It’s like having a Ferrari drawn by two bullocks. There you go.
