A couple of publications asked me to write pieces for their Independence Day issues, but I chose not to because I had nothing to say beyond what I already did in my piece last year, <a href=\"\/the-republic-of-apathy\/\" title=\"The Republic of Apathy\">The Republic of Apathy<\/a>. That should tell you why August 15 leaves a bittersweet taste in my mouth. Independence, yes; freedom, um&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>I have much to blog about, but have been travelling for the last three days, and am in Chennai today after going from Chandigarh to Delhi to Mumbai.
