Much as we talk of a &#8216;secular mandate&#8217;, the Hindu right has a massive constituency in the country, illustrated superbly by a survey from Tehelka that shows that Bal Thackeray is &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/story_main28.asp?filename=Ne140407Bal_thackeray_CS.asp\" title=\"Mumbai's Hero No. 1 -- Bal Thackeray\">Mumbai&#8217;s Hero No. 1<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>To top it, we have <a href=\"http:\/\/tehelka.com\/story_main28.asp?filename=Ne140407Superscript_narendra_CS.asp\" title=\"Narendra Modi is coming\">Swapan Dasgupta arguing<\/a>: &#8220;This poll is a compelling argument for the BJP fighting the next election with [Narendra] Modi at the helm.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Gandhi vs Modi then, a few years from now?
