More than 100%

When Javed Miandad was Pakistan’s coach, he would often give soundbytes about how ‘the boys’ would “give more than 100%” or will “give 150% of their effort” and so on. It’s fairly common usage, and as language gets more and more devalued, I won’t be surprised if people start promising 1000% and suchlike. Anyway, what does this mean really, to give more than 100%? Is it possible to actually do so?

Yes! For a mathematical explanation, click here. Can’t argue with the conclusion.
